Norwegian Felting Batts
50% Pelssau and 50% C1         "Gotland Type"

This blend of 50% fast felting Pelssau wool with 50% Norwegian blend (C1) creates a batt which felts quickly with a firm, even surface. What makes these batts extra special is that they are a blend of grey and white wool which creates a silver base and rich color when overdyed. These batts are also very colorfast and mothproofed.

Dear customers,

As of August 2008, I have decided to discontinue distribution of this wonderful wool.  With our weak US dollar in the current economy it has become difficult for me to import the large quantities of this fiber that are needed to make it cost affective.  I would also like to create more of my own felt artwork and expand my studio by utilizing the large amount of space currently used to store the Norwegian Batts.  I also have some pelssau locks and merino prefelt fabric on my Bargains and Finds page that come from the same Norwegian distributor that will not be available again.

Please note that I will still carry the Merino Top, Silk Hankies, Hand Dyed Silk Fabric, and Felting Supplies that are listed on other pages of this website!

I currently have all of the colors of Norwegian Batts in stock however some colors are plentiful while some are almost gone.  Listed below in bold are the colors that are still available and I will update the list as needed.

silver grey charcoal black
beige cinnamon dark brown ocher
corn yellow orange red wine red
cyclamen navy blue royal blue dusty blue
green grass green moss sea green

Pricing
1 pound batts    $40.00 each

4 ounce batts    $10.00 each

Please note:  There was an error made in my last shipment from Norway and while all of the colors that arrived were correct, some of the fiber was 100% C1 instead of 50% Pelssau/50% C1.

So currently Sea Green, Cyclamen, and Wine Red are 100% C1.  The shrinkage is the same so you can use this wool with the other Norwegian Felting Batts and Merino wool.   C1 felts at about the same speed but since it lacks the Plessau (grey fibers) the color will be a little lighter and clearer looking than the color shown in the fiber chart and felt swatches.

Pelssau: Originally developed as a pelt sheep, the wool is soft with high luster and felts quickly. The sheep are found in varying shades of grey, and are members of the Northern Short Tail Family. Sample of Locks and Sheepskins

C1: C1 is a classification of wool in Norway that is created by combining the white wool from breeds such as Dalasau, Rygja and Steigar. C1 is the highest quality grade of this mix.

Not familiar with these breeds? It is difficult to compare their wools to any particular United States breed. The best way to know if this wool is right for you is to try it! These Norwegian felting batts create a rich looking felt surface that easily forms crisp, firm, three dimensional sculptural elements and edges. Commonly used to create felt hats, outerwear, wall hangings, and sculptures. Samples of work created with Norwegian Felting Batts.

You may email your order to spinsterstreadle@hotmail.com with your complete shipping address and the credit card number with expiration date.  For security purposes it is suggested that you send the credit card number in several emails.  Please include a phone number as well.

Shipping Information

I have found that the US Post Office (USPS) usually gives me the best rates and I charge you exactly what the box costs to ship plus delivery confirmation ($0.65 - $0.75).  For this reason I can usually only give you an estimate of shipping costs at the time of your order.  The invoice enclosed with your shipment will include the total charged to your card.  I will ship your order the same day if possible or by the next day at the latest.

I live in Washington State and ship parcel (ground) so you can expect your order to take about 3 days to arrive if you are in the surrounding states, about 5-6 days to the midwest and southern states such as Texas, Arizona and southern California.  Transit time to the mid-Atlantic states is about 6-7 days and expect 7-9 days if you live in the northeast.

I can also ship your package priority mail for a transit time of 2-3 days for about $5 - $10 additional dollars.  However, if your package is over 12 x 12 x 12 inches and you live outside the pacific northwest (and a few other surrounding states) there will be a balloon charge that can be as much as $20 additional dollars.  Basically, if your order is going to need to take up more than one cubic foot of space on an airplane to get to you in 2-3 days it's going to cost you a lot!  Also keep in mind that, while they do usually get the package to it's destination on time, the US Post Office does not guarantee the 2 -3 day time frame with priority shipments.

So, if you have a large order to place, need it by a specific time, and want to ship it economically (parcel) please be sure to give me enough time to package the order and two weeks for it to get to you!
